PROJECT REPORT:
thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers manages global identity management with evolutionID solution
Springs and stabilizers form the basis for safe, efficient and comfortable mobility – from sports cars and limousines to trucks. thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers stands for innovation and high-tech in chassis technology worldwide – and fares well with centralized identity management from evolutionID.
Even a simple coil spring has to be precisely matched to the vehicle if you want to keep grip in the truest sense of the word. But the product range of thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers also includes full stabilizers as well as weight-optimized tubular and split stabilizers for active suspensions. The extensive portfolio of the globally active company even includes lightweight and CFRP products made from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.
The company can look back on a long tradition: A production facility of today’s Springs & Stabilizers business unit was founded near Werdohl as early as 1562. Today, with over 3,000 employees at locations in Europe, North and South America, and China, the company is an innovative and strong production partner for the entire automotive industry.
For an internationally positioned company, identity management is a not insignificant cost factor. When looking for a process partner for this complex task, the project managers at thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers became aware of us as an existing supplier to other divisions of the company and decided on a complete solution based on our ID management system IDfunction.
The consistently web-based software combines all employee identities in a central database. Via individual interfaces, IDfunction is networked with the access and time recording systems at all locations as well as with the SAP world in the company. This prevents incorrect bookings or security breaches if, for example, a badge is lost or an employee leaves the company. Here, the centralized concept guarantees reliable and company-wide blocking of all credentials.
At the same time, the open, device-independent system enables decentralized management and production of ID cards as well as location-based authorization and master data distribution. This avoids detours, for example in the identity management of visitors and external companies, and the badges are available immediately.
For the production of visitor badges, it was decided to use thermal rewrite coated (TRW) media. Using a special print head, inscriptions can be applied to them and erased again. This is done by regulating the heat intensity and cooling speed. The waste-avoiding technology makes the reusable cards cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.
“From evolutionID we got exactly the right mix of centralization and site orientation,” praises Adil Sahin from IT management at thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers. “With this efficient ID management system, we save costs and increase our security level.”
