ID management report:
More than a museum
In the historic center of Berlin, between the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz, the newly opened Humboldt Forum is a center of culture and science. The center of ID management comes from evolutionID.
Even the architecture is a highlight. On the Museum Island, history and the future meet in the reinterpretation of the Berlin Palace that was blown up in 1950: The faithfully reconstructed baroque facade was combined with the contemporary architectural language of Franco Stella.
Director General Hartmut Dorgerloh sees the Humboldt Forum as an “international dialogue platform for the questions that concern us in the world today.” Dorgerloh promises a “… independent, very broad program from dance, film, music and discourses to hands-on offers.”
The dimensions of the project not only illustrate the construction costs, which are currently budgeted at 682 million EUR, but also the gross floor area of over 100,000 square meters. The Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art take up the largest area with almost 14,000 square meters. A total of more than 40,000 square meters of publicly usable space is available, for example for offices, restaurants, events and exhibitions.
evolutionID was commissioned to install and commission a web-based ID management system. The system, which is based on the established IDfunction solution, centrally manages all employee and service provider badges.
In this major project, too, the flexible concept makes ID management a good deal easier and more cost-effective: The employee master data that has already been recorded is simply transferred to ID management via an interface. Thanks to the consistently web-based approach, the necessary personal photos can be requested automatically and even taken by the employees themselves using mobile devices. Central identity management manages access to various third-party systems, such as employee lockers and lockers. The centralization enables a seamless security system: If an employee leaves the operating company or if an ID card is lost, all access to the building itself and to all systems is blocked with just one mouse click.
evolutionID took on the entire project from the initial consultation through installation and commissioning to ongoing service, which also includes the production of the ID cards. A secure printing option will also be available in the future.
“Of course, the Humboldt Forum primarily sees itself as an open house,” explains project manager David Hornschuh. “For this very reason, a consistent security concept is essential. The compatibility of security, usability, cost and process efficiency is always the focus of a major public project like the Humboldt Forum. With its stringent and easily scalable system, evolutionID gave us optimal support at this central point.”
